Coordinator of the Integral Development of the Person Unit at the Catholic University in Porto
Carmo graduated in Management in 1995 and has worked at Universidade Católica - Porto ever since. Initially responsible for the Communications and Public Relations Department, she currently coordinates the Integral Development of the Person Unit. In this unit she has promoted and energized themes of faith, solidarity and sustainability/university social responsibility, namely the involvement of the academic community with the external community through volunteering and the Service-Learning methodology. She is a member of the Observatory of Social Responsibility and Higher Education Institutions, where she coordinates a Service-Learning group.
In celebration of two decades of existence, CASO measured the perceived impacts of its volunteers and reflected on the effects of its activity in a conference format.
Universities, as centers of knowledge and training, play a crucial role in building a more just and supportive society. An often underestimated dimension of this role is university volunteering, a practice that transcends the boundaries of the classroom and reaches out directly to the communities around them.
